Come and Try Golf Clinics – What to Expect

Getting Started

Empower Golf’s Come and Try Golf Clinics are a great way to introduce new people to golf or to reintroduce former players to the game they love after accident or illness. To book your place, click here.

What to Bring

At every clinic, club, ball and tees are provided. Keep an eye on the weather forecast for the day, and bring appropriate clothes, sunscreen, hats and water.

If you prefer to use your own golf clubs and equipment, we encourage you to bring them. If you require specific equipment (ie. slide board, hoist or slide sheet) to transfer from your wheelchair to the ParaGolfer, please bring it or contact us in advance to check availability.

Friendly and Relaxed

Clinics can run for a couple of hours, but you will have plenty of time to relax and chat with the others. It’s a great place to share stories, learn from others’ experiences and meet future playing partners.

No-one is ever compelled to participate, but all are encouraged. You will also find that the other participants will support and encourage your efforts.

Each person will be given individual golf instruction by an accredited Blind and Disabled golf coach and then it is time to practice.

ParaGolfer and Other Adaptive Equipment

If you need to use a ParaGolfer or other adaptive equipment, you will be given basic instruction how to use it.

Bring your Community

We understand that you are part of a community, so friends, family, partners or carers are always welcome at a Come and Try Golf Clinic.

For ParaGolfer users, it may be the first time that their family has seen them standing (or may be the first time they have shared a standing hug).
